Quake hits northwest China

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake shakes northwest China, damaging buildings and alarming residents. So far no casualties have been reported. The quake in the Xinjiang province struck at 8:21 in the morning. (SOUNDBITE) (Chinese) Mu Fengrong, local resident of Tokkuztara County: "We were getting up when the earth shook. Our house shook violently. I immediately jumped up and, holding my daughter and son, rushed out." (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) DOCTOR WANG YUNHAI SAYING: "This time the earthquake lasted for about 10 seconds. When we felt the earthquake, we all got up. The patients really reacted." The government has temporarily closed local schools and dispatched rescue teams to the area. A 5.4 magnitude quake also hit western China earlier on Tuesday morning. Lindsey Parietti, Reuters
